INFO-9 - The AgBioData Consortium: Visioning and Implementation

Sunday, July 15
12:22 PM - 12:30 PM

AgBioData is a consortium of agricultural biological databases and associated resources working together to ensure standards and best practices for acquisition, display and retrieval of genomic, genetic and breeding data. This presentation will highlight best practices for scientists to enable scientific discovery and application through interaction and support of agricultural databases.

I am a professor of bioinformatics in th Department of Horticulture at Washington State University. Our USDA, NSF and industry supported program focuses on development of online genomic, genetic and breeding databases for over 25 crops (mostly speciality crops such as tree fruit, berries, cool season food legumes, but also cotton - www.rosaceae.org, www.cottongen.org, www.citrusgenomedb.org, www.coolseasonfoodlegume.org, www.vaccinium.org). We use and develop the open-source, generic, resource-efficient Tripal database platform (tripal.info).
