2018 Leadership in Science Public Service Award | Science Administrators in Partnership with Scientists

Saturday, July 14
5:35 PM - 6:00 PM

Science administrators are those highly trained scientists who are engaged in administrating and managing the scientific enterprise often without directly conducting research or teaching themselves. Examples would include program officers at the funding agencies, executive directors of scientific societies, and staffers of the science committees within the international, national and local legislative branches. Do science and scientists need science administrators to advance the science? If so, how can scientists and science administrators best work together to specifically advance plant science?
