Planteome: A source for standard definitions reviewed by experts and links to annotations from plant genome databases

Sunday, July 15
11:10 AM - 12:30 PM

The Planteome project aims to create a full suite of reference ontologies that can be used to describe all aspects of plant life in a standardized way. From plant anatomy, growth stages and development, to plant diseases and abiotic stresses, the Planteome has controlled vocabularies to capture it all. It is crucial that the vast amounts of data being generated by plant scientists be interoperable for sharing and reuse. By using ontologies to annotate data, the Planteome will facilitate semantic queries across databases to link plant traits, and phenotypes, with genes, QTL, and germplasm.
