Friday, October 19
10:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Location: 117

1.5 PDH, LA CES/HSW, AICP, FL, NY/HSW

Agrihoods—communities organized around food production—offer progressive models for integrating productive landscapes into the fabric of our growing urban regions. This session examines built examples to understand the challenges and opportunities in creating synergistic relationships between communities and agricultural production through planning, landscape design, and operational models.

Learning Objectives:

Amaya Genaro

Director Community Services
Rancho Mission Viejo

Amaya has 25 years of community association experience integrating governance, amenities and programs to
create lifestyle-enriched master plan communities throughout Southern California and Arizona. She currently leads
the Community Life team at Rancho Mission Viejo, where she oversees and implements the operations of lifestyle
services and programs.

Rancho Mission Viejo is bringing to life a community that challenges the status quo by integrating Age Qualified neighborhoods and All Age neighborhoods with an overlay of ageless amenity design and programming. The “Agrihood” program and a communal approach to farming have continued to gain momentum with a community following of all ages.
