Teamwork: A Key to Effective Leadership

This session will provide an overview of teamwork and effective communication, with an opportunity for hands on activities. You will work closely with other student pharmacists andhone your leadership skills in a fun environment. This session will help you develop your skills in active listening, communication, and problem solving.

Brian A. Cohen, Pharm.D,. M.S., FASHP, FTSHP, FACHE, is currently Director of Health-System Pharmacy Services at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. The Health System includes 2 hospitals, totaling over 600 beds, 5 retail pharmacies, 2 of which are focused on cancer care, 1 retail pharmacy and 4 outpatient infusion center pharmacies, 3 of which are focused on cancer care. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Texas at Austin in 1999 and Master’s of Science in Hospital Pharmacy Administration from the University of Kansas 2001. He completed a two-year ASHP accredited specialty residency in Pharmacy Practice Management at the University of Kansas Medical Center in 2001. Dr Cohen has been recognized as a Fellow of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists and the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Dr Cohen has been an active member of professional organizations, recently past-president of Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists and past-president of Metroplex Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Additional positions include serving as the chair of the Texas Society of Heath-System Pharmacists Financial Committee, chair of the TSHP Executive Search Committee, chair of the Local Chapter Needs Task Force of TSHP, chair of Texas delegation to the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists House of Delegates and vice chair of the financial performance committee of the University Health-System Consortium. Dr Cohen has contributed to the profession by presenting several posters, presentations and publications.
