Majid Tanas, R.Ph., Pharm.D., M.H.A., M.S.

Majid Tanas, Pharm.D., M.H.A., M.S., is Chief of the Department of Pharmacy at the National Institutes of Health. In this role, he provides leadership and direction for patient care, while advancing pharmacy practice, education, and research. Dr. Tanas completed his Health-System Pharmacy Administration Residency at the University of Washington in 2009. Throughout his career, he has led a diverse range of operations encompassing inpatient, ambulatory, outpatient, research, specialty, and infusion pharmacy services. His administrative interests include patient safety, clinical practice development, operational efficiency, cleanroom management, medication policy, financial performance, automation, and education. Other areas of professional interests include leadership and team development, as well as health policy advancement. Majid has served in many roles within ASHP, as a New Practitioner Executive Committee member, Pharmacy Practice Committee Member, and an Oregon state delegate.
