Tim Thompson, Usability Lead at Epic.
I've been the Usability Lead at Epic for over 8 years, working with the development and quality assurance teams to create high quality usability data to drive development projects with a deep understanding of what users need and what work they are trying to perform on behalf of thier patients. This has resulted in a large increase in both the quantity of research and a dedication to continuous improvement of our methodology and results.
Over the past 2 years, I've worked on moving this work beyond the develpoment and quality assurance process and towards the implementation and build of Epic at our customer sites. This has resulted in both a usability toolkit available for builders as well as a training and support program to help analysts, informaticists, and IT support to better understand user needs and how they can play a role in improving the experience of their users and the patients they serve.
