Joy Meier, Pharm.D., R.Ph., Pharm.D., BCACP

Dr. Joy Meier currently serves as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist and Data Analyst, and is responsible for managing, maintaining, and developing the VISN 21 Pharmacy Benefits Management Dashboard and Reports SharePoint site. She organizes and develops both pharmacy and clinical data to provide a solid base upon which pharmacists, clinicians and managers can derive data-driven decisions in order to meet the pharmaceutical and medical needs of veterans in a cost-effective manner that optimizes patient outcomes. Dr. Meier was employed as a physician assistant for six years prior to receiving her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science in 1990.

Jennifer Marin, Pharm.D., BCACP, Pharm.D., BCPS

Jennifer Kryskalla Marin earned her PharmD degree from the University of Colorado School of Pharmacy. She completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice residency with the VA Northern California Healthcare System, and a PGY2 Managed Care and Applied Pharmacoeconomics residency with the VA Sierra Pacific Network (VISN 21) in Reno, NV. After residency, Dr. Marin worked for VA Desert Pacific Healthcare Network (VISN 22) as the VISN Pharmacoeconomist and Pharmacy Data Analyst. During her time with VISN 22, she oversaw cost saving initiatives, formulary management, and developed data tools for a variety of projects including Hepatitis C patient population management, opioid risk reduction, and benzodiazepine prescribing in elderly patients. In 2016, she rejoined VISN 21 as a VISN PBM Data and Program Manager. Dr. Marin serves as the VISN 21 Academic Detailing program manager, overseeing seven clinical pharmacists who engage with prescribers to promote evidence-based practices across the region. She enjoys teaching PGY2 residents to answer clinical and operational questions with appropriate data analysis and presentation. Through dashboard development and maintenance, she supports improved patient care and organizational performance in primary care HEDIS measures, opioid safety, and endocrinology.

    Janice Taylor, Pharm.D., BCPS, Pharm.D., BCPS

    Janice Taylor, Pharm.D., BCPS, is a data and program manager for the VA Sierra Pacific Network (VISN 21) Pharmacy Benefits Management team. In 2016 she completed her specialty PGY2 residency in Pharmacy Outcomes and Health Care Analytics with VISN 21. Prior to coming to VISN 21, she completed her PGY1 general practice residency training at the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System in Tucson, AZ. Originally from New Mexico; Dr. Taylor graduated with her Pharm.D. in 2014 from the University of New Mexico College of Pharmacy in Albuquerque.

    In her current position, Dr. Taylor provides data support and clinical input in various practice areas including: Antimicrobial Stewardship, Hepatitis C, Advanced Liver Disease, Pain, Mental Health, Medication Safety, Inpatient services, and Academic Detailing. She also serves as a precptor for the PGY2 program and enjoys serving as a guest lecturer on for the Samuel Merritt Pyscian Assistant program in Oakland, CA. She has a passion for population health management and enjoys designing and implementing quality improvement projects.

    She currently serves as Treasurer for the Nevada Society of Health System Pharmacists (NVSHP) and is a member of the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA).
