PhD Student
West Virginia University

My name is Erfanul Huq. I am currently pursuing PhD in Civil Engineering at West Virginia University (WVU), and also working as a graduate research assistant in the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), and later did my master’s in Environmental Engineering from Washington State University (WSU). I have acquired 29 months of working experience in the field of process based modeling of groundwater flow and solute transport. My area of interest are flow and contaminant transport in subsurface, and hydrology and mechanistic hydrological modeling, through which I am inclined towards addressing aspects like surface and groundwater interaction, climate change impacts on surface and groundwater flows, flooding in complex urban watershed, application of Geographic Information System (GIS) in hydrological problems, etc. During my current tenure at WVU, my research is based on quantifying stormwater induced flooding of inlands of Florida during extreme storm events.
