Dew condensers collect dew via thermal radiation and cooling affect without the use of external energy. The aim of this project was to design the dew and rainwater collector which would serve as a multipurpose, aesthetic, economical and sustainable system converting the humid air into water. Different design parameters such as suitable materials and geometric shape for the collection surface and structural analysis (such as wind and gravity loads) were investigated. Aluminum was chosen as dew collector material due to its high emissivity. Square funnel condenser shape was chosen as condenser design based on ANSYS and COMSOL cross-platform finite element analysis program. Program results were supported with an experimental analysis indicating that temperature difference along the surface causing cooling effect on the condenser surface. The results of the structural analysis via SolidWorks showed that the dew collector has stable structure even under severe weather conditions. Quantity of the collected water changed based on the weather conditions. The results of the study showed that dew and rainwater collector can be used as a multipurpose, aesthetic, economical and sustainable system converting the humid air into water with the purpose of providing additional sustainable water sources to serve irrigation purposes. In addition, it can be placed in parks, gardens, or farms, serving as a shade to minimize its space capacity and provide a leisure area for people.
