Nikolaos Karagiannis graduated in 2002 from Civil Engineering Dept. at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), Greece with a 5-year Diploma degree in Civil Engineering and he obtained his MSc degree in 2003 in "Water Resources Science and Technology" from Civil Engineering Dept. at National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece. Currently (starting in 2014-2015 academic year) he is a PhD student in the Coastal Engineering field at Civil Engineering Department at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. Professionaly, he is involved in the construction industry in Greece and London,UK since 2003 while he has obtained significant design experience as well.
His academic interests concern the numerical simulation of water wave propagation, breaking waves, standing waves, wave-structure interaction mainly using OpenFOAM and the combination of hydrodynamic analysis on the OpenFOAM platform with sediment transport models.
He has presented part of his work, in the frame of his PhD thesis, at many international conferences, including ICCE 2016, November 2016 in Antalya.
