PhD Candidate, Dipl, MEng, MSc, CEng
University of Patras
I am a Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng Technical Chamber of Greece) since 2010 and I hold a five-year diploma in Civil Engineering (equivalent to MEng) with a specialization in Structural Engineering from the University of Patras (UoP) in Greece since 2010. I have also received my Masters degree (MSc) in "Water Resources and Environment" from the same institution in 2012. My MSc thesis was in the area of Hydraulic and River Engineering. The main objective was to examine flow processes around groynes as well as the role of spacing between them on the effective control of bed and sidewall shear stress in open channel flow, by means of the commercial software ANSYS FLUENT.
Currently, I am a PhD candidate in Coastal Engineering at UoP. My research activity is in the areas of coastal and near-shore processes (wave transformation, currents, turbulence) in terms of Computational Fluid Dynamics. The main objective of my Ph.D. Thesis is the development and validation of an in-house solver, developed in Fortran, for the simulation of wave propagation and breaking over beaches with equilibrium profiles and over low-crested breakwaters.
Further, during my doctoral studies I have also participated in several relevant applied research projects as a research assistant.
I have already authored or co-authored seven (7) publications to national and international Conference proceedings, whereas a journal paper has been accepted for publication and one more has been sent to a peer-review journal.
