Coastal Engineer
NCSU/Moffatt & Nichol
Ayse Karanci is a coastal engineer with Moffatt & Nichol at Raleigh. She recently obtained her PhD from Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at North Carolina State University. Her dissertation aims to better understand the dynamics between coupled human and physical systems in coastal areas. Her primary interests are r directed toward improving the resiliency of coastal communities to flooding and climate change by understanding the influence of feedbacks among nature and social systems. She is particularly interested in leveraging information gained to inform management decisions, and contribute to climate and flood adaptation policies by efficiently utilizing geospatial
tools and numerical models to better understand, visualize, model and develop solutions to mitigation challenges.
