Assist. Prof.
Middle East Technical University
Dr. Cüneyt Baykal received his B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees all in Civil Engineering from Middle East Technical University (METU) in 2003, 2006 and 2012, respectively. In his Ph.D. he studied on the development of a depth-integrated 2-dimensional numerical model for the short-to-medium term beach morpgological evolution. After his Ph.D., he worked as a guest post-doctoral researcher in Technical University of Denmark, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Section for Fluid Mechanics, Coastal and Maritime Engineering. There, he involved in research for numerical modeling of scour and backfilling around offshore wind turbine foundations. Since February, 2016, he has been working as an Assistant Professor in METU-CE. His research interests include numerical and physical modeling of coastal hydro- and morpho-dynamics, CFD and turbulence modeling, and design of coastal structures.
