In 2017, Takashi KAWAGUCHI started as a Ph. D. student at Chuo University in Tokyo, working with the topic “wave energy conversion”.
In 1982, in order to study absorbing wavemaker invented by Professor S. Salter, he visited Edinburgh University as an engineer of Mitsui Engineering and shipbuilding Co., Ltd.
After he theorized the absorption control technologies of wavemaker in 1985, almost all wavemakers in Japan (more than 100) were made as absorption wavemakers. ("Application of a piston-type absorbing wavemaker to irregular wave experiments")
In 2012, when Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding started R & D project of wave power generation, he joined to the development team to apply absorption control technology. After retiring Mitsui, He started consulting company named AQUSYS to advise MITSUI.
