James M. Kaihatu is an Associate Professor and Assistant Department Head for Research in the Zachry Department of Civil Engineering at Texas A&M University, in College Station, TX. He has been at Texas A&M since 2006. Prior to this he was an Oceanographer with the Naval Research Laboratory at Stennis Space Center, MS (1995-2006) and a Hydraulic Engineer with the Coastal Engineering Research Center, U.S. Waterway Experiment Station in Vicksburg, MS (1987-1989). He earned a B.S. from California State Polytechnic University (1986), an M.S. from the University of California (1987), and a Ph.D. from the University of Delaware (1994), all in Civil Engineering.
