Wave Pressure on Seawall
To study the impact of overtopped waves against dike mounted vertical walls, large-scale experiments in the Delta Flume were conducted in March 2017. The impact pressures and forces on the wall were measured by pressure sensors and load cells respectively. Typically, an impact is comprised of a double peak signal shape. This study focuses on the description of the impact process itself and the prediction of the two peaks in the impact signal. A theoretical approach is adapted with the experimental data resulting in semi-empirical prediction formulae.
