Coastal Wave Modeling
Results from real-time wave field reconstructions performed during the ONR Innershelf DRI experiment are presented. During this experimental effort – located near Point Sal, California USA – 18 directional wave buoy’s (Spoondrift Spotters) were deployed along the 20, 50 and 100 meter depth contours. Each of these buoys provides hourly updates, which are subsequently used to reconstruct a best estimate of the local wave field in the region that is accessible through the Spoondrift backend. We will discuss the implementation and accuracy of the data-driven framework, and compare assimilated results with conventional model predictions and observations.
