Dr. Ayumi Saruwatari is an assistant professor of the Faculty of Engineering at Hokkaido University. Her research interests range from micro to synoptic scale such as generation of sea spray from the ocean surface and development of high waves by a winter cyclone. Her presentation in ICCE 2018 will be about a mechanism of sediment pickup induced by the obliquely descending eddies under breaking waves investigated by a three-dimensional numerical computation, which was performed as an extended research from the coauthors and her latest publication "Vortex-induced suspension of sediment in the surf zone" by Otsuka, Saruwatari and Watanabe (2017).
