Mr. Maximilian Streicher is a PhD student in coastal engineering at the Civil Engineering Department of Ghent University, Belgium. He is in his 4th PhD year and anticipates to complete his studies in Spring 2019. His PhD research focuses on wave impacts on storm walls, situated on top of a dike. Experiments in small-scale (Ghent University, Belgium) and large-scale (Delta Flume, The Netherlands) are conducted, to study the wave structure interaction for this set-up.
He is experienced in physical wave flume modelling, impact measurement techniques and Matlab data analysis. He has gathered practical experience while coordinating the Hydralab+ "WALOWA" project featuring experiments in the new Delta Flume in 2017. He has previously obtained a Master's and Bachelor's degree in civil engineering at the Technical University Braunschweig, Germany. During this time he conducted physical experiments on dropping geotextile sand containers and used a laser scanner for high resolution wave height measurement. Besides he has worked with the numerical models SWASH and XBeach.
