Sebastián Solari is Civil Engineer from Universidad de la República (2006) and Doctor from Universidad de Granada, Spain (2011). He Posdoctoral Fellow and Research Assistant at Universidad de la República from 2011 to 2015. Since 2015 he holds a position as Associate Professor at IMFIA (Fluid Mechanics and Environmental Engineering Institute) of the Engineering School of Universidad de la República.
In 2015 he was awarded first place at De Paepe-Willems Award from PIANC and The Extraordinary Doctoral Thesis Prize of the University of Granada in Engineering and Architecture areas (granted to theses defended in the academic year 2011-2012). In 2013 he was awarded Best PhD Thesis in Civil Engineering by the National Academy of Engineering of Uruguay.
Main research area is applied probabilities in coastal and civil engineering, with focus on extreme analysis, reliability and risk analysis.
