Coastal Research and Education
The United States (US) Army Coastal Engineering Research Board (CERB), established in 1963 by the US Congress, has had a major impact on the profession of coastal engineering for over 50 years. The CERB's charge was to provide advice and guidance to the Coastal Engineering Research Center (CERC) on coastal engineering research. Many prominent coastal leaders have served on the CERB and were interviewed in the development of this report. The presentation will include a review of some of the contributions of the CERB. The CERB's contribution to the profession of coastal engineering has been and continues to be significant.
