Idiopathic Toe Walking Treatment Interventions Selected Through a Biomechanical Approach

Through the course of the research entitled, Two-Pull Carbon Fiber Ankle Foot Orthotics vs Serial Casting in the Treatment of Idiopathic Toe Walking: A Randomized Control Trial, the researchers developed algorithms based on biomechanics to identify the appropriate selection of treatment interventions and timing of the interventions to ensure successful outcomes for children with a diagnosis of idiopathic toe walking. Participants will gain information on how to properly select and identify appropriate treatment interventions throughout a patient's course of treatment for idiopathic toe walking.

Nicole Brown earned a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2011 from the University of Minnesota.
She works as an outpatient Pediatric Physical Therapist at Children’s Minnesota since 2011. Nicole presented previous research, Validation of a Force Sensing Glove in Evaluation of Quadriceps Strength at CSM of the APTA in 2011. She presented a platform presentation at the Minnesota Chapter of the APTA. Currently, she has completed a granted funded research study, entitled Two-pull Carbon Fiber Solid Ankle Foot Orthotics versus Serial Casting in the Treatment of Toe Walking: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

Joanna Dallum earned a Masters's of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse in 1999.

She has been working as a Pediatric Physical Therapist at Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota since 2003. She has been serial casting since 2010. She assisted in a grant funded research study at Children's of Minnesota, "Two-pull Carbon Fiber Solid Ankle Foot Orthotics versus Serial Casting in the Treatment of Toe Walking: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
