Considering the adaptive reuse of historic buildings, conservation professionals from Latin America will present actual case studies from their countries of residence. The symposium will cover three major themes: theoretical aspects applied to the controversy of changing the original use of historic buildings; successful cases of preservation of historical buildings utilizing a new use adaptation to the historical materiality of heritage buildings; and finally, cases in which the intervention of adapting the historic building damaged or negatively affected the historic building.
