The health care system is seeing substantial growth in tailoring treatments to an individual’s genetic profile – a practice known as precision medicine. For managed care organizations that are accustomed to population care management, precision medicine can pose challenges including evaluating the level of evidence available for genetic tests and treatments, availability of patient-specific data and benefit design/reimbursement strategies.
