Symposium on the Future of Libraries
Virtual reality (VR) is an emerging technology with the potential to enhance many professions and disciplines, but it presents challenges in creating scaled access, designing useful learning spaces, and providing support to students and instructors. This session will look at two models for integrating virtual reality in learning spaces. NCSU Libraries will share their insights from experimenting with VR services, opening VR learning spaces, and lending VR equipment over the last year and a half. The University of Washington Health Sciences Library will discuss how they transformed a space within the library into a translational and information lab, which supports VR/AR among 13 other activities. Space considerations from an architectural and interior design perspective will be discussed.
