A bookseller for two decades, Andrew Woodrow-Butcher heads the Library Services division of famed comic book shop The Beguiling Books & Art, where he works consultatively with educators and librarians to develop their graphic novel collections. He also manages Little Island Comics, the world's first comic book shop just for kids!
Since 2007, Woodrow-Butcher has been one of the organizers of the Toronto Comic Arts Festival, where, in addition to working as the Children's Programming Co-ordinator, he also co-programs an annual day of professional development sessions for teachers and librarians about collecting and using comics in schools and libraries. As a co-ordinator for the TCAF Abroad program, he regularly convenes opportunities for Canadian cartoonists to find new audiences around the world.
Woodrow-Butcher studied Comparative Literature at the University of Toronto, where he completed an undergraduate thesis on LGBTQ representations in literature for young people. As a reviewer and critic, he has written for XTRA!, THE WINNIPEG REVIEW, BROKEN PENCIL MAGAZINE, and THE QUILL AND QUIRE. He lives in Toronto with his husband, editor and TCAF co-founder Christopher Butcher.
