Bob assists post-acute care providers with operational improvements, such as survey preparation and compliance, business process improvements, budget analyses, staff retention strategies, documentation and billing procedures, contract reviews, bundled payment strategies, strategic positioning and Medicare/Medicaid certification issues.
He has more than 34 years of health care experience, as well as more than 30 years of long-term care experience as an administrator, field trainer, Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) project manager, speaker and consultant. Prior to joining BKD, Bob was the project manager for the Oklahoma QIO nursing home and home health task teams that successfully ramped up the settings’ seventh and eighth scope contract activities.
Bob is a licensed and certified nursing home administrator (CNHA), Chairman of the American College of Health Care Administrators (ACHCA) national Board of Directors and a Fellow in the ACHCA (FACHCA) since 1995.
He serves on the faculty for the Administrators University managed by the Oklahoma State Board of Examiners for Long Term Care Administrators and is an adjunct faculty member for the Saint Joseph’s College of Maine health administration program. Nationally, Bob is a member of the American Health Care Association (AHCA) Quality Improvement Committee, and the Advancing Excellence in America’s Nursing Homes’ Staff Involvement workgroup. Bob previously served as the ACHCA District 5 Director and Oklahoma and Missouri chapter president and as a board member for the Missouri Health Care Association (MHCA) as well as in several MHCA district leadership roles. He is a former member of the Oklahoma Alliance on Aging Board of Directors and has served as an AHCA Silver Quality Award examiner. Bob also served on the national Quality First Committee for LeadingAge and as a member of the AHCA Quality Award Board of Overseers.
Bob has spoken multiple times at AHCA national meetings and in more than 12 states. Bob is a 2016 graduate of the United Way of Central Oklahoma’s Board Serve program and serves as a board member of Upward Transitions in Oklahoma City.
He is a graduate of The University of Kansas, Lawrence, with a bachelor’s degree in allied health administration, and a graduate of The University of Oklahoma, Norman, with a graduate certificate in gerontology and a master’s degree in health and human services administration.
