Nursing centers face a world gone mad, with payment systems in a continual state of flux and uncertainty, and increased focus on quality and resident experience. The ongoing challenge is to maintain profitability, increase efficiency, and improve the care provided. The presenters have worked collaboratively to identify nursing centers that are achieving excellence clinically and financially, pinpoint the metrics that set them apart from other centers, and implement organizational changes to recreate those results in other facilities. Our speakers bring more than 75 years of collective experience in their respective disciplines to bear on a new, aspirational benchmarking approach, one that identifies and weighs metrics that are indicators of quality care and normalizes financial performance for variability in Medicaid rates and other factors to identify the best-performing nursing centers in the country. The benchmarks, which include staffing standards, billing and coding issues, costs of care, and resident statistics, contrast operational indicators that set the very best facilities apart. Of course, just knowing the benchmarks isn’t enough. Presenters will also discuss experience-based approaches to closing gaps between a center’s current state and desired state and maintaining great performance. This session will engage participants using text-based polling to tailor the discussion to their interests. In addition, participants will collaborate with the presenters to compare data from their own facilities with data from the best performers.

• Identify clinical, statistical and financial indicators that set great-performing nursing centers apart in order to compare those indicators to your own facilities’ indicators
• Discuss how to improve your nursing centers’ performance for improved care, patient experience and profitability through specific operational changes
• Discern gaps between data available in your systems and data needed to create real change, and begin to approach closing that gap
