Learning Focus: Admissions, Financial Aid and Student Services

Evaluating the unique contributions of undergraduate Science GPA and DAT scores as admissions criteria for dental school is challenging. While DAT scores are nationally normed, this is not the case for undergraduate GPA. Admissions personnel agree that not all GPAs are created equal. Using regression analysis on archival data of 500 students, statistical weighting was assigned to DAT and undergraduate GPA scores. School strength was evaluated and incorporated to provide a Comprehensive Admission Score. Statistical analysis demonstrates the predictive superiority of this score as a fair measure of the applicants' standing in the admissions process.
