Learning Focus: Teaching and Learning

Evidence-based dentistry (EBD) is an approach to dental care that requires the judicious integration of systematic assessments of clinically relevant scientific evidence, relating to the patient's oral and medical condition and history, with the dentist's clinical expertise and the patient's treatment needs and preferences. To provide the high quality and ethical evidence-based care, dental graduates and faculty need to understand and critically appraise the dental literature. The participants will learn the basics of EBD, levels of evidence, basic search strategy and resources and how to critically appraise a systematic review.
