Saturday, March 17
11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Location: Sarasota Room

Target Audience: Faculty

Learning Focus: Teaching and Learning

Session Designation: CCI|SOTL

Section/SIG: Graduate and Postgraduate Education, Graduate Dental Hygiene Program Directors

Future oral health leadership requires scholarly research and publication. Mentorship in scholarly activities in higher education is often thrust upon faculty with limited knowledge and experience on how to successfully mentor. The research and writing proficiencies of graduate students are often in direct contrast to the expectations of their faculty, with many students arriving in graduate school unprepared for the demands of scholarship. Participants will learn useful strategies to enhance critical thinking for success at graduate and postgraduate level education, identify essential communication and feedback methods, and discuss innovative learner-centered practices when mentoring for scholarship and writing.
