Monday, March 19
1:30 PM - 2:30 PM
Location: Sanibel Room
CE: 1

Target Audience: Faculty

Learning Focus: Technological Innovations

Session Designation: SOTL

Dental Education: General Dentistry

Dental educators have the responsibility to deliver relevant and engaging curriculum to increasingly sophisticated learners. Current content delivery methods, slides, videos and lectures have saturated the educational landscape, failing to effectively instruct and inspire the next generation of providers. New technologies can reignite this enthusiasm by opening new instructional modalities and enhancing existing experiences. One such technology with great promise for dental education is augmented reality, which superimposes computer-generated content into a user's field of view to provide a composite experience. This presentation will highlight the use of augmented reality in dental education and ways in which it can improve learning outcomes.
