University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine in collaboration with the School of Medicine and Johnson and Wales University conducted a pilot course on culinary education for dental and medical students. This course provides the opportunity for substantive change in the way students learn nutrition and its applicability in chronic disease management and prevention. The course aims to provide principles of healthy eating and communication for health promotion activities at the clinical level. The uniqueness of the course is that health sciences’ students learn by cooking, interaction with culinary students, and evaluating the impact of food choices on overall health.
