A-012 - Lifelong Learners Through Experiential Self-assessment: Crucial Preparation for 2030 Practice

Monday, March 19
3:30 PM - 5:00 PM
Location: Sun Ballroom 4-6
CE: 1.5

Target Audience: Faculty

Learning Focus: Assessment

Dental Education: General Dentistry

This session will provide dental educators with a breakdown of the nuances of implementing and sustaining a student self-assessment program. Attendees will participate in a mock assessment exercise to guide formative discussions. Discussions will focus on student self-assessment experiences as they relate to faculty assessment across time. In bringing calibrated student and faculty assessments together, we can close the gap in preparing dental students for lifelong learning. The dental student who is unable to accurately self-assess will struggle for the practice of 2030. A key component for the futuristic practice must include self-critique and self-guided growth as a clinician.
