Amy Rushing, MD, FACS

Amy Rushing, MD, FACS is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Trauma, Critical Care, and Burn at The Ohio State University. Dr. Rushing completed her surgical residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. She went on to pursue a surgical critical care fellowship at R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland followed by an acute care surgery fellowship at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. Her primary clinical activities focus on complex emergency general surgery and surgical rescue. In addition, she has written several book chapters in the field of trauma and critical care as well as contributed to the development of multiple practice management guidelines for the surgical management of Clostridium difficile colitis and appendicitis. Dr. Rushing serves as an instructor for the American College of Surgeons' (ACS) Advanced Trauma Operative Management course and she has given several guest lectures for the ACS Clinical Congress and the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma (AAST). At present, her academic time is spent participating in outcomes research focused on surgical emergencies within vulnerable patient populations.
