Gain better understanding of complications related to common surgical procedures performed on the upper respiratory tract of the horse, intra- and postoperative difficulties encountered during laryngoplasty, and epiglottic surgery, and novel methods to minimize and mitigate perioperative complication occurrence, as well as treatment of delayed complications that impact success.

Pablo Espinosa Mur, DVM, DACVS

University of California, Davis

Dr. Pablo Espinosa obtained his veterinary degree at the University Complutense of Madrid. Following veterinary school, he started his professional career in a large animal private practice in the east of France, and then completed an internship in equine medicine and surgery at the University of Montreal. Following his internship, Dr. Espinosa worked for an orthopedic referral practice in Paris for one year, and then completed an equine surgery internship at Milton Equine Hospital in Canada. He completed the a large animal surgical residency at UC Davis. He currentyl serves the Large Animal Clinic in several capacities, including the Large Animal Intensive Care Unit, surgery services, clinical trials, and PET scan research. Dr. Espinosa’s specific clinical interests are orthopedic surgery, lameness and soft tissue surgery.

John Madison, VMD, DACVS

Ocala Equine Hospital

Dr. Madison is a 1981 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. He did an internship and surgical residency at New Bolton Center and spent the next eleven years of his career in academic practice at New Bolton Center and the University of Florida. In 1997, he founded Ocala Equine Hospital, a surgical practice in Ocala, Florida with a caseload that is primarily racing Thoroughbreds. In 2001, the surgical practice merged with two ambulatory practices to form the present Ocala Equine Hospital, P.A.
Dr. Madison is an avid hockey player and fan of the Tampa Bay Lightning. He also enjoys woodworking.
