Jennifer Severance, PhD

Jennifer Severance, PhD is Assistant Professor and Director of Education and Research at the Center for Geriatrics, University of North Texas Health Science Center. As Program Director for a HRSA Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program, she collaborates across interdisciplinary groups and academic, health, and community organizations to engage students and primary care professionals in improving older adult health and systems of care. She is involved in research projects as an Associate Fellow for UNTHSC’s Institute for Patient Safety and Fellow of the Texas Center for Health Disparities. Dr. Severance received her Bachelor’s degree from Austin College and doctorate in Applied Gerontology at the University of North Texas-Denton. She worked in long term care and non-profit services in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. A champion for healthy aging in the community, she serves on the Advisory Committee for Fort Worth Safe Communities Coalition and on the Board for Sixty and Better, Inc. She serves on the Executive Council for the National Association for Geriatric Education, and previously on the Executive Committee for the National Council on Aging’s Institute of Senior Centers. She is a member of the American Society on Aging, American Geriatrics Society, and Gerontological Society of America.
