Barbara Laymon, who joined the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) in January 2008, is the Lead Program Analyst for the Performance Improvement team. Previously at NACCHO, she worked for the Advanced Practice Centers Program and for the National Profile of Local Health Departments study.
Barbara has worked in governmental public health at local and state levels and for a managed care organization. She has served in various capacities, including Epidemiology Analyst, Community Health Planner, Nutrition Educator, State Health Planner, and Research Analyst. Her recent work has included efforts to address the social determinants of health through community health assessment and improvement planning.
Barbara’s background includes an MPH from the University of South Carolina, a graduate certificate in Applied Epidemiology from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, and a BS in Math-Computer Science from Furman University. She also has a MS in pastoral counseling from Loyola University, Maryland, where she is currently pursuing a PhD. She is licensed as a graduate professional counselor.
