Irving M. Pike, MD, FACG, ACG President, will address attendees during the Presidential Address to mark the beginning of the ACG 2018 Annual Scientific Meeting. The President uses this opportunity to welcome attendees, highlight accomplishments over the past year, and bid farewell as the leadership passes on to the next President-Elect.

Irving M. Pike, MD, FACG, is currently the Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of John Muir Health located in Walnut Creek in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. Dr. Pike is President of the John Muir Health Specialty Medical Group. He serves as President of the ACG. Dr. Pike is a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency and Gastroenterology Fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center Dallas, Parkland Memorial Hospital. He practiced gastroenterology in Virginia Beach, VA, from 1983-2012. Dr. Pike served on the Executive Committee of the Virginia Beach Medical Society as well as serving the society in a term as President. Dr. Pike has served on committees of the ACG and chaired the Practice Management committee. He served as co-chair of the 2005-2006 and 2014-2015 ACG/ASGE Task Force for the development of GI Endoscopic Quality Indicators. He is a past director and past president of GIQuIC.

Sunanda V. Kane

Professor of Medicine

Dr. Sunanda Kane is Professor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. She has expertise in the field of inflammatory bowel diseases where she is engaged in patient care, research, and education at the level of the medical school, residency and fellowship. She is currently the Chair of Quality within the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology where she is responsible for quality improvement within the endoscopic practice, the inpatient hospital service, and patient satisfaction. She is active on many national committees and organizations including the Board of Trustees of the ACG as an Officer, and previously on the Patient Education Committee of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America. In addition, she has served on multiple editorial boards including as an Associate Editor for Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics. Included in her bibliography is a Pocket Guide to IBD and two editions of her book on the self-management of IBD for patients.
