Suriya Sastri, MD, FACG, is Medical Director, at the Midwest Digestive Center, in Willow Brook, IL, and is also solo practitioner in the field of gastroenterology and hepatology. She received her medical degree from Madras Medical College, Chennai, India in 1978. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Cook County Hospital, Chicago, IL in 1985, and fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Missouri, Columbia, MO in 1988. As a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, she served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY and at the Chicago Medical School, IL. She has been in clinical practice and is the medical director at the Midwest Digestive Center and Office-Based Midwest Endoscopy Center, Willow Brook, IL. Her current interests include gender differences in gastroenterology and the role of solo practitioners in the era of population health.
