Dr. Charles Kahi is Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine, and Gastroenterology Section Chief at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. His clinical and research interests are colorectal cancer prevention, colonoscopy quality, serrated neoplasia, and screening in geriatric populations. Dr. Kahi received his MD from the American University of Beirut Medical School in Lebanon in 1996. He subsequently moved to the United States and completed a residency in internal medicine, chief residency, and fellowship in gastroenterology at the Indiana University Medical Center. During his GI fellowship, he obtained a Master's degree in Clinical Research from Indiana University. He has been an active member of the IU and Roudebush VAMC faculty since 2004 and is involved in direct patient care, teaching, administration, and research. He has received multiple teaching awards from Indiana University. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and American Board of Gastroenterology, and a Fellow of the ACP, AGA, ASGE, and the ACG. He serves as Associate Editor for the journal Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and is on the Editorial Board of Endoscopy. He has maintained continuous research funding from the NCI, VA, and GI societies since 2005. He has authored several peer-reviewed research papers in high-impact journals, in addition to books and book chapters, and has participated in the development and publication of multisociety clinical practice guidelines.
