In select temples in northeastern Japan, the robed bodies of mummified monks are venerated as living Buddhas. This short documentary presents interviews with monks who care for the “Buddha Mummies” and patrons who worship them as living gods while revealing a key redressing ceremony in the 12-year ritual cycle.
