On the eve of WWII, tens of thousands of Jewish refugees are trapped in Nazi-controlled Vienna. This film recounts the courageous intervention of Ho Feng Shan, the Chinese Consul in Vienna who defied his own government and braved the Gestapo to issue visas to the refugees. It is the epic story of their escape to Shanghai, as told by Jewish refugees and the Chinese who helped them survive.
