Inter-area/Border Crossing

Organized Panel Session

Legality, Sovereignty and Inter-Asian Worlds

Friday, July 6
10:20 AM - 11:50 AM
Location: Kadamba, Lower Ground Floor

What are the legal and governance mechanisms and regimes that govern the mobilities through which Asia is made and remade? Various types of national and transnational actors negotiate the multiple codes and contexts involved in the control and implementation of transactions and competing interests including colonial administrators, transnational lawyers, state agencies, global contractors, and activists. This leads to the creation of new and different types of institutional spaces, narratives, and subjectivities.
