2 - Emerging Trends in Nurse Migration from India

Friday, July 6
2:40 PM - 4:10 PM
Location: Maple, Lower Ground Floor

Due to the aging population and declining birthrates, developed countries have been experiencing nursing shortages. This situation has attracted nurses from developing countries, with India having traditionally been one of the largest sources of nurses in the global market. In the past, becoming a nurse was seen as a ticket to overseas migration, but as India is itself undergoing the economic and social transformation, the pattern of nurse migration and the characteristics of migrating nurses seem to be changing. In this presentation, new trends in nurse migration are presented on the basis of the results of a survey conducted in Tamil Nadu, India.
