John R. McGuire, M.D. is a Professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Director of the Comprehensive Spasticity Management Program. He received his MD from the University of Minnesota and completed Residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. He also completed a Post-Residency Fellowship in Stroke Rehabilitation from the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. His research interests include maximizing motor recovery and quantifying motor discoordination after upper motoneuron lesions. He has numerous publications and presentations related to motor control and spasticity management with intrathecal baclofen and botulinum neurotoxins. He has twenty five years of clinical experience managing spasticity.
