Learning Objectives:

Connect with academic faculties to provide residents with untapped activities, writing exercises, and wellness initiatives.
Provide specific examples to program and program directors on why it is beneficial to initiate writing-based initiatives during didactics, retreats, etc. as well as resources that connect the residency program to their academic institutions.
Initiate writing and journal activities at participants' institution as an outlet for residency growth but also as a barometer for residency wellness and needs.

Sara Brown, M.Ed. is the Senior Department Manager for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She has a Masters of English Education from Carlow University and an English Degree from Colorado State University. Prior to her work with UPMC, Sara worked as a teacher of secondary english education and reading assistance. Sara is a published creative author, with many of her poems featured in Colorado State's annual publication, The Hungry Eye. Sara lives in Pittsburgh with her husband Dave and enjoys running road races and vollunteering with Community Living and Support Services and Side Project, Inc.
