Shumyle Alam, MD, a specialist in pediatric pelvic and urogenital reconstruction, offers expertise in the management and treatment of complex urologic conditions that restore form and function, improving the quality of life for children. He has earned national and international recognition for the medical and surgical management of Anorectal malformations, neurogenic bladder, posterior urethral valves,disorders of sexual development, complex and re-operative hypospadias, and end-stage renal disease. He specializes in the management of Congenital Anomalies of the Kidney and Urinary Tract(CAKUT). He is an Associate Professor of Urology at Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Alam earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia School of Medicine. He went on to complete a residency in urology at the University of Illinois at Chicago, followed by a pediatric urology fellowship at Cincinnati Children's Medical Center. Following fellowship training, he was an Assistant Professor of the Division of Pediatric Urology and Director of the Urogenital Center at Cincinnati Children's Medical Center before joining New York-Presbyterian/Columbia in 2014 where he became the Director of Pediatric Urologic Reconstruction.

Lisa Creelman

Columbia University Medical Center

Lisa Creelman, BSB, RN, CPN - care coordinator for Pediatric Urology Reconstruction Program at Columbia University Medical Center Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital. She joined the practice in 2014 and prior to that was at Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center where she was a clinical nurse for the Complex Urology Program. Lisa currently performs our urodynamic and videourodynamic studies and is the main point of contact for our complex urology patients and families. In addition to coordinating care she has trained hundreds of families and children how to manage their bowel and bladder and also helps patients understand how to care for themselves after urinary tract reconstruction. She has lectured internationally and nationally to nurses and families about the importance of education, teaching, and empowerment in the child with bowel and bladder dysfunction.
