The Center for Medical Simulation’s Gateway Debriefing Skills Workshop introduces healthcare education faculty to the foundational practices of the Debriefing with Good Judgment© method of debriefing. This innovative workshop combines an immersive, daylong, in-person learning experience with supplemental online learning that includes customized peer-to-peer and mentor feedback. Participants will have the opportunity to learn how to efficiently improve future performance, set high standards while holding high regard for the learner, treat learners as thinkers and not just doers and practice various debriefing phases.

Mary K. Fey, PhD, RN, CHSE-A

Dr. Fey has been working in the field of clinical simulation since 2006 and has been responsible for developing clinical simulation programs, integrating simulation into undergraduate and graduate nursing curricula, and designing simulation labs. Currently, her work focuses on faculty development for simulation educators. She is Associate Director of the Institute for Medical Simulation at the Center for Medical Simulation in Boston, MA. She received both basic and advanced debriefing training from the Center for Medical Simulation in Boston, MA.
Dr Fey is a co-author of the Standard of Best Practice for Simulation: Standard VI, The Debriefing Process and Standard IX, Simulation Design. She has completed both qualitative and quantitative studies on debriefing and provides faculty development to interprofessional groups of simulation educators.
She is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning. She also serves on the Certification Committee of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare.

Dr. Dewan serves as faculty and associate nurse anesthesia program director for the Northeastern University College of Nursing Nurse Anesthesia Program. She has been involved in anesthesia education and global health projects for over 35 years.
She is committed to integrating advanced nursing practice into care that decreases disparity in global surgical access and safety. Her scholarship addresses the link between nursing care and realization of the right to health.
